HoSt biogas plant - feedstock - sludge

Sludge

Primary and secondary sludge from municipal and industrial wastewater treatment is a standing disposal cost. Anaerobic digestion turns it into renewable energy and reduces the volume left to handle.

How HoSt digests sludge

HoSt combines thermophilic and mesophilic digestion to break down more of the sludge than conventional single-stage digestion. For hard-to-digest sludge, HoSt ThermalTreat applies thermal pressure hydrolysis to raise gas yield and limit foam, and recovered heat preheats the incoming sludge.

End products
Biogas drives a CHP unit for the treatment works or is upgraded to biomethane. Reduced sludge volumes cut dewatering, transport and disposal costs.
