Biogas plant feedstock food waste

Food waste

Food waste covers processing residues and de-packaged food products from the food and beverage industry, in both liquid and solid form. It is energy-dense and a strong biogas feedstock.

How HoSt digests food waste

De-packaging removes plastics and packaging before digestion. Energy-rich fats, oils and greases (FOGS) raise yield in co-digestion, and HoSt sanitises material that falls under animal by-product rules. Feeding and mixing are sized for variable industrial compositions.

End products
Biomethane for process heat or the grid, food-grade bio-CO2 that a producer can reuse in its own products, and biofertiliser from digestate.
