Steam boiler plant in Osijek, Croatia
District heating & steam
In Osijek, in the West of Croatia, HoSt has built a turnkey wood-fired boiler plant with a water tube steam boiler. HoSt received the order for this project in Osijek together with the order for the project in Sisak, Croatia. Both plants are built on behalf of the Croatian electricity company Hrvatska Elektroprivreda (HEP). The projects supply district heating to the city, and steam to factories.
Wood-fired steam boiler
The Osijek plant supplies hot water to the district heating of the city Osijek, steam to surrounding industries, and electricity to the grid. The prunings and the wood waste from timber industry as fuel come from the Osijek area. This steam boiler plant is designed for maximum efficiency. Leftover heat is used from electricity production to provide district heating. By condensing steam in the flue gases, 25% more heat from the same amount of wood is created.
Project features
Standout characteristics
- The water tube steam boiler design has a very high availability.
- The fouling of the boiler and furnace is minimized due to low speeds and a low temperature on the grate.
- A high efficiency is achieved by a combination of low flue gas outlet temperature, low O2 content in the flue gasses, a flue gas condenser, and an efficient steam turbine.
