Biogas plants for project developers

A technology partner for biogas project development. HoSt Bioenergy Systems delivers turn-key EPC biogas plants with in-house upgrading and CO2 liquefaction, from feasibility to commissioning.

A technology partner from feasibility to commissioning

Project developers carry the risk of feedstock, technology, permitting and delivery in a single business case. HoSt works as the technology partner that de-risks the build: a global technology leader with more than 450 renewable energy projects delivered, offering the full biogas plant in one place. HoSt is currently building Lorca Bioenergy in Spain for developer Five Bioenergy, one of the largest biogas plants in the country. See our projects for the wider track record.

De-risking the business case

Before design, HoSt models the mass and energy balance and the carbon intensity (CI) score, and advises on feedstock configuration and offtake. This gives a developer the numbers behind the Total Cost of Ownership and the revenue case.
HoSt guarantees 95% availability and often reaches 98 to 99%, backed by 24/7 service and remote monitoring. Predictable uptime supports the financing model.
At Lorca, HoSt cools the digestate through external heat exchangers for the warm climate and recovers osmotic water from thin-fraction treatment to reuse in the process, avoiding scarce fresh water. Complex site conditions are solved in the design.

What we delivers to project developers

  1. Turn-key EPC or a flexible scope
HoSt delivers a complete plant under a full EPC contract, or a reduced scope of design and key components where a developer wants to lead parts of the build. The contracting model flexes to the project.
  2. A full in-house technology portfolio
Anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading, CO2 liquefaction and bio-LNG come from one supplier. One-stop delivery removes interface risk between vendors and lets a developer sell biomethane, food-grade bio-CO2 and biofertiliser from a single site.
  3.  Feedstock flexibility and process stability
HoSt engineers the feeding, mixing and digester design around the specific feedstock mix, including difficult and varied streams. Stable digestion protects the yield the business case depends on.
