What does the building process of a biogas plant look like?

For projects HoSt supplies to clients, the building process starts in the sales stage with a preliminary plant design based on the client’s feedstock, produced via HoSt’s biogas configurator: a mass and energy balance, expected biogas or biomethane production, and a budgetary offer. When price and design align, HoSt carries out a Front End Engineering and Design (FEED), a pre-engineering phase led by a dedicated Project Manager that resolves technical unknowns such as heat calculations, pressure drops, component sizing and site layout, and ends with a binding offer and a realistic project plan. Contract discussions run in parallel, so detailed engineering and construction can start right after FEED. HoSt offers two scopes of supply: Engineering & Key Components, where HoSt supplies the equipment and supervises its installation while the client arranges local works such as mounting, piping, wiring and concrete tanks; and Turnkey, where HoSt also carries out these local works itself. Construction then follows a set sequence, from levelling the terrain and laying foundations to building the concrete tanks, mounting equipment, and completing piping and wiring, ending at mechanical completion, when the plant is ready for commissioning and start-up. HoSt-owned and operated plants follow an earlier feasibility study and permitting phase before this process begins.
