What happens if feedstock quality or quantity changes?
Changes in feedstock quality or quantity can affect biogas production, process stability, and the fertilization value of the digestate, so consistent monitoring and control are essential. A drop in organic content or an unplanned change in feedstock mix can reduce gas yield or, in more severe cases, lead to process failure through acidification. HoSt addresses this with a dedicated process analysis service, which uses monitoring and its own laboratory with small-scale digesters to detect and prevent instability, optimize gas production, and reduce feeding costs. Highly automated dosing and mixing systems, combined with remote process monitoring, allow operators to adjust feeding rates and composition quickly, keeping the digestion process stable even when input conditions change.
