How reliable is biomethane as an energy source?

Biomethane is one of the more reliable forms of renewable energy. Because it is produced continuously from organic waste streams and can be stored and distributed through the existing gas grid, it is dispatchable: supply is independent of weather, season, or time of day. Grid injection in particular decouples production from consumption, giving operators and grid operators alike a flexible, predictable gas supply.

Plant availability depends on the design and maintenance quality of both the anaerobic digestion system and the upgrading equipment. Our upgrading systems are designed for an operational availability of more than 97%. HoSt Bioenergy Systems provides 24/7 local service and maintenance, combined with remote monitoring, to keep plants running at full performance throughout their operational life.
