A broad range of organic materials is suitable for anaerobic digestion. Common feedstocks include animal manure, food waste, the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW), grass, straw, slaughterhouse waste, industrial food-processing residues, fats, oils, and greases, and sewage sludge. The biogas yield varies by feedstock: energy-dense materials such as FOGS produce more gas per tonne than dilute streams such as liquid manure. Combining feedstocks (co-digestion) allows operators to optimize yield and maintain a stable digestion process. HoSt’s feeding and mixing technology is specifically designed to manage difficult, high-viscosity, and fibrous substrates that many standard digesters cannot process reliably.
