Which sectors have suitable waste streams?
Several sectors generate organic waste streams suitable for anaerobic digestion, including agriculture, food and beverage processing, municipal waste management, and wastewater treatment. Livestock farms supply manure, while the agricultural sector more broadly contributes to crop residues, grass, and straw. Food processing companies and slaughterhouses produce Category 2 and 3 animal by-products, unpacked food products and fats, oils, and greases, which are valuable co-digestion feedstocks. Municipal waste management provides an organic fraction of household and commercial waste, and wastewater treatment plants generate primary and secondary sludge. HoSt supplies dedicated plant types, from manure and agricultural biogas plants to industrial biogas plants and sludge biogas plants, matching the waste streams available in each sector.
